The idea is that it is risky to go all in on any one option. What if it fails and you lose everything? Isn’t it wiser to hedge your bet and go part way on a couple options? Our pluralistic culture is built on freedom, keeping our options open. But what if contemporary wisdom is wrong and by hedging our bets we are actually committing a fatal error that ensures we lose everything? This is exactly what Paul suggests in the case with God’s new family that is offered to all in the gospel. What if Paul is right?
